  W3 WIND TRIO
W3 Wind Trio formed in 2006 by three students at The Royal College of Music. W3 have performed in a variety of venues across the UK, including St. George’s Brandon Hill, Bristol, St. Mary Abbott’s Church, Kensington, and Lincoln’s Inn, Holborn. In July 2006 they took part in the Premiere performance of Cecilia McDowell’s Century Dances at the RCM in conjunction with the Thorne Trio.

Steve Burnett (bassoon), Sarah Douglas (clarinet) and Frances Slack (oboe) are all avid orchestral performers. Whilst studying at the RCM they have performed under the batons of Sir Roger Norrington, Marin Alsop, Bernard Haitink, Christopher Warren-Green and Pierre-André Valade with whom they broadcast a UK premiere on BBC Radio 3 as part of a Helmut Lachenmann festival. During their varied performing lives they all also enjoy numerous freelance orchestral engagements throughout the South East and regularly perform solo recitals.

W3 are passionate about outreach and educational work. They are currently Ensemble In Residence at Bousfield Junior School and in 2007 performed for Test Drive An Instrument at the GroveStock Festival and St. Wilfrid’s Retirement Home, Chelsea. Most recently they have given performances for RB&H Arts at Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals. They also perform regularly at private functions and recent events have included the Natural History Museum and Chelsea Physic Garden. Individually they have taken part in projects with the Music House for Children, Handel House Museum and the LPO. Their future plans include further expanding their outreach work both within London and further afield.
